Who we are
The Patients Association is an independent charity, who believe that health and social care services should provide quality and safe care for all.
We want a culture where transparency thrives, patients, their families, carers and staff are all empowered to raise concerns and make complaints, in order to contribute to a better and safer health and social care system.
What we do
Our national helpline sits at the heart of everything we do. The health and social care system can be deeply confusing when it comes to finding crucial advice quickly. Every year we take thousands of calls from across the country on a whole range of health and social care issues. Our dedicated Helpline team answer concerns and help people to find the advice they need quickly with warmth and compassion.

We work to amplify patient voices among key decision makers. We currently work in Parliament with the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Patient Safety.
By responding to national health and social care consultations we are able to provide policy makers with a range of patients' opinions, highlighting potential implications and assisting in the development of solutions.

Each year we participate in a number of national and local projects. In 2016 we took part in 18 projects. These ranged from work around developing and setting patient compliant surveys and patient's compliant panels, developing workshops and information packs around patients participation groups (PPG).

We also complete an annual waiting times report into the number of patients waiting longer than the 18 weeks referral to treatment target for elective surgery.
